Forbidden City and finally into The Square

On an earlier post I talked about being herded away from Mao and Taiananmen, not on this trip. Loved the mom propping her kids into the a door of the Forbiddenn City for a photo; the buildings are of course extravagant and imposing. The stall is where I bargained for the first time. A fan started at 48rmp and I got it for 15! She said 20 was a low as she would go, I said no and walked away, she chased me and said ok for 15, that's about $2. Tiananment as you can see is huge, so strange all the happy people taking happy snaps in a place with such a history. Of course we forgot to bring water and thought we might well die in the sun. They sell batteries and film in the square but not water! Had to throw in a photo of my favorites, the line of marching solders, that's the Great Hall of the People background right.
